Ed Hamlet wins his first MMA contest. Ed Hamlet, of Mosinee, won his first MMA contest on Saturday, November 29th in the second round by armbar submission. Ed has only been training at GWMA for 3 months, but used his BJJ skills to finish the fight. Nice work Ed!New student testimonial about the benefits of BJJ training. Justin Grabko, a student of GWMA for 3 months, stated the following:
"I have been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for three months now, and I've gotten into the best physical shape that I've been in since High School. It's a great workout and has you escape the events that you experience with your personal life since you're so focused on learning the technique and trying to perfect it. Seth and Jeremy take 1st place at N.A.G.A. Tournament. Congratulations to Seth and Jeremy for each bringing home a 1st and 2nd place trophy at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) tournament in Chicago on November 15th. NAGA is one of the largest and best-known grappling tournaments in the country. Seth took 1st place in the teen intermediate no-gi division and 2nd place in the gi division. Jeremy took first place in the adult beginner gi division at 155 lbs and second in the no gi division. Again, great job guys!!!
| Luiz Claudio amazes seminar participants, again!!! On Saturday, October 25th, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion Luiz Claudio returned to Great White Martial Arts for another high-energy seminar. As usual, there were frequent oohs, ahhs and head shaking heard and seen from the seminar participants. Professor Luiz followed his phenomenal technique demonstrations with detailed explanations of why the moves should be performed in such a manner. Finally, he spent time making the techniques work for each of us. To paraphrase Ben's description of Professor Luiz, he does things that nobody should be able to do and makes it look easy... Professor Luiz will return to Wausau in late March of 2009. |
