Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seminar for teens planned at public library in Wausau. On July 7, at 6PM, Garrett Erickson will put on a free self defense seminar for teens. There are only 30 spots available. If interested in attending, call 261-7240 or email teenzone@mcpl.us to hold your spot.Seth Clemens takes first place at Submission Hunt. On Saturday, June 27th, Seth Clemens took first place in the "Teen 149.9 - 199 Intermediate No-Gi" class at the Submission Hunt tournament held in Champlain, MN. Congrats Seth, on another great showing!

Catch wrestling seminar - nasty stuff. On Saturday, 6/13, Great White Martial Arts hosted a catch wrestling seminar featuring Steve Henderson, a 10-year student of catch-as-catch-can wrestling. The 3-hour seminar discussed the many differences between catch wresting and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Steve also showed us a bunch of nasty submissions such as unique setups to heel hooks. If you ever get a chance to train with an authentic catch wrestler, I would highly recommend it. This seminar was sponsored by Rib Mountain Martial Arts. We would like to thank Mike Erwin, of RMMA, for setting it up and Steve, for putting on a great seminar.

Tucker (GWMA Aikido instructor) introduces Wausau to "Jedi workout". On Friday, June 5th channel 7 reporter Jonalee Merkel interviewed Jason Tucker regarding his take on the recent New York fitness craze called the Jedi workout. Tucker mentioned several similarities to Aikido's weapons training. Here is a link to the story: WSAW story. Tucker later challenged inter-galactic light sabre expert "Yoda" to a duel, however, Yoda has yet to respond.
Great White self defense seminar a hit, covered by WSAW. On Saturday, May 30th, Great White held a free self defense seminar which lasted 2 hours and had around 30 participants. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and learned several valuable techniques in case they ever need to defend themselves on the street. The event was covered by WSAW News, the Wausau CBS affiliate.
