Character
development: During each class,
our instructor sits down with the kids and has a 5-10 minute mat chat about positive character traits such as focus, discipline, confidence, respect,
or goal setting. We then distribute
handouts to reinforce the concepts and expect parents to discuss these topics
with their kids.
Understanding
how to deal with bullies: Our students also learn how to deal effectively
with bullying though our character development program. We teach them a comprehensive strategy which includes
getting adults involved early, learning verbal techniques and finally
controlling an adversary, if attacked.
Improved
Report Cards: Our
curriculum is designed to teach children the importance of focus and discipline.
Character traits, like focus and discipline, translate well from the martial arts into the
classroom. Focus is super important to
students since it is so easy to become distracted by others. Discipline is about working toward a goal. The
martial arts teach students these valuable skills which will in turn improve
your child's grades.
Martial Arts Builds Healthy Kids: The martial arts is an
excellent work-out. Your child will breath, eat and sleep better. Children who
take martial arts classes are in
better shape, make better decisions about food, and in general, learn to take
care of themselves.
Self
Confidence: The martial arts builds self-confidence though rewards such as a belt system. Students may test after attending a set number of classes, earning character stars outside the martial arts school, and with the permission of the instructor. Students are also encouraged to lightly spar
with other students. As they get better over time, their
confidence grows and soon they realize that they can accomplish any goal in life.
Self-Defense: Although we mix proven martial arts techniques from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Karate and Wrestling, our base martial art is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). BJJ is a grappling art which has proven
to be very effective in self defense situations. The system uses leverage-based techniques and
positioning rather than size and strength. It does not rely on punches or kicks which could injure other children
and get your child into trouble. Instead, our students learn to control an attacker until they give up |
