Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a complete self defense system which utilizes leverage-based grappling techniques to defeat larger opponents.  The art has proven itself to be extremely effective on the street as well as in head-to-head competition against all other martial arts as proven by the early UFC competitions. Jiu Jitsu is the perfect system for anyone who wants to learn a truly effective self defense system, or for people simply interested in getting into better shape or for individuals interested in  tournament competition (optional). Jiu Jitsu is the perfect martial art regardless of size, age or gender.

Check out this self defense demonstration by Masters Rickson and Royler Gracie, see video. Luiz Claudio has studied directly under Rickson Gracie for over 20 years.

Why should I learn Jiu Jitsu at Great White Martial Arts?

We are a proud long-time affiliate of the Luiz Claudio Combat Team (LCCT), headed by Luiz Claudio and his brother Thiago Veiga.  Both men are 2X world champions and both received their black belts from Master Rickson Gracie. Recently, Luiz and Thiago moved to Chicago, IL and Kenosha, WI respectively from their native city of Rio de Janeiro.  Our students now have easy access to the very highest level of Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world. Luiz and Thiago are currently training several UFC fighters and our students can travel to either location and take their classes FOR FREE!!! Try our classes now and see why LCCT is already the biggest Jiu Jitsu Association in the Midwest and gaining new members every day!!!

Here in Wausau, Great White Martial Arts is lead by Garrett Erickson, who, along with his testing partner James "Junior" Clark of Madison, were the first American-born students awarded a black belt in Jiu Jitsu through the LCCT. Garrett also receives tremendous support from a strong core of excellent blue and purple belt students which help teach our BJJ classes.  Please contact us with your questions or simply stop by and try a class.  Visitors are always welcome!
